Priority is proud the serve the trash and recycling collection needs of residents in the City of Detroit. In Detroit, Opportunity is Rising. Opportunity Rising is the city’s commitment to create more ways for Detroiters to thrive. By having this focus, Detroiters are presented with more opportunities to get a job, start a business, inspire through art, or raise a family in the city. With this request for proposals, the City of Detroit now can expand this mission to waste disposal. Priority took the service the residents were receiving and elevated the experience to new levels by being innovative and transformative.
- Compost Pickup Period: 3/30/2026 – 12/18/2026 Weekly service beginning on the first full week of April through the second week of December. Christmas tree pick up (and miscellaneous garland) shall be for the 4 weeks following the holiday. Trees over 6 ft must be cut in half by the resident. Residents are required to place grass and leaves in “Kraft” paper bags or properly marked 32-35 gallon cans. Carts and bags must be marked with a “yard waste only” or “compost” sticker. No plastic bags are accepted. Branches (two inches in diameter or less) and twigs must be placed in bundles/tied no larger than 2 feet by 4 feet long or 50 lbs per bundle/bag. No tree trunks or stumps accepted.
