Yard Waste Collection

What to Expect During Leaf Season

Each fall, yard waste volumes increase substantially as leaves, garden debris, and seasonal cleanup materials are placed at the curb. To maintain reliable service throughout the season:

  • Trash collection will remain our top priority.
  • Yard waste service may extend beyond its regularly scheduled collection day.
  • Collection crews may work weekends to complete outstanding yard waste routes.
  • Residents should continue placing yard waste out on their normal collection day.

Please allow our crews time to complete delayed routes before reporting a missed yard waste collection. In most cases, delayed collections will be completed through the weekend. If your yard waste remains uncollected by the following week, please contact Priority Waste for assistance.

Preparing Yard Waste for Collection

Frequently Asked Questions

Why wasn't my yard waste collected on my scheduled day?

During peak leaf season, collection volumes can exceed normal levels. While trash collection remains the priority, yard waste crews may continue working through the weekend to complete routes.

Should I report a missed pickup immediately?

No. Please allow our crews time to complete delayed routes before reporting a missed yard waste collection. In most cases, delayed collections will be completed as soon through the weekend. If your yard waste remains uncollected by the following week, please contact Priority Waste for assistance.

Will trash service be affected?

No. Trash collection remains our primary service focus during leaf season.

Can I use a container instead of bags?

Yes. Residents may use their own container provided it is clearly marked “YARD WASTE” or “COMPOST” and meets all applicable municipal size and weight requirements.

Why does my container need to be marked?

Unmarked containers cannot be identified by collection crews as yard waste and may be left behind.
